Memorial plates

The most important mission of the Foundation is commemoration of sculptor Stepan Erzia’s life in Russia and abroad: in Italy, France, Argentina, Moscow, Novorossiysk, Yekaterinburg, Batumi, Baku and Kazan.

Thus, on November 8, 2011, to mark 135 years of birth of S. Erzia, on the Foundation initiative and with the active participation of the Italian city of Carrara, a memorial marble plate was made and placed on the facade of the still-standing Garibaldi Boarding House, where the sculptor lived in 1914.
This action was supported by the Russian Federation Consulate General in Genoa and Consul E.M. Boikov personally.

On February 3, 2015, the Erzia Art Foundation together with the Moscow Department of Culture inaugurated a memorial plate in Moscow at No. 3, 2nd Peschanaya street, where the last Erzia’s studio was (the bronze plate was created by sculptor Ivan Kazansky, Associate Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, State Prize Laureate).

  

On November 8, 2016, in relation to the celebration of the 140th anniversary of Stepan Erzia, and together with the authorities of the hero city Novorossiysk, the Foundation arranged opening of the memorial plate in Novorossiysk on the facade of the still standing former trade-school building, where in 1921-1922 sculptor Erzia and his apprentice, Elena Mroz lived and studied (the bronze plate’s author was Petr Dobaev, Member of the Moscow Regional Union of Artists). The plate was inaugurated with the participation of Ivan Dyachenko, acting administration head of the hero city Novorossiysk.
